Re:plates  – plates with historical photo’s revive in contemporary design

Plates with an historical photo, translated to contemporary plates by designer Esther Derkx. During her working experience with the Improved! china for years, Esther developed a preference for flower decorations that decorate vintage crockery.  The flower decorations are photographed and edited to a contemporary design. For the historical photo’s Esther cooperates with photo archive Spaarnestad Photo in The Hague, NL. The digital archive enables you to search thematically. The photo’s are cleared from their environment and combined with the flower design.

Every plate is numbered in a range to 100 pieces, and baked twice in the ceramics oven.
